The university has a Volunteer Center, organized by teachers and students of the Department of Psychology. The center includes 87 people, representatives of various faculties of the university, who are engaged in many areas of volunteer activity in providing socio-pedagogical and psychological and other services (educational, informational, legal, socio-pedagogical) to orphans and children left without parental care, ATO soldiers and their families, military personnel, and people who need special attention.

Areas of activity of the Volunteer Center:

  • providing services to orphans and children left without parental care;
  • developmental, correctional, rehabilitation and leisure work with children with disabilities;
  • volunteer support for preschool children during their preparation for school;
  • inclusive work in educational institutions and organizations;
  • social partnership;
  • training of volunteer groups and volunteer activity at the Volunteer School;
  • organization of charity events, cultural events;
  • research work of volunteers.

During September-December 2019, the Department of Psychology implemented the project “Psychological Support for Parents of Children with Special Needs.” During the implementation of the tasks within the framework of the Project, psychological assistance (psychological support) was provided to parents raising a child with special needs.

Thanks to the implementation of the Project, parents raising a child with special needs actually had the opportunity to build emotional resilience, develop empathy and acceptance of their own special child, and increase awareness in the field of psychology, age and pedagogical psychology, and pathopsychology.

In May 2020, at the initiative of Prof. Ternovyk N.A., a military-patriotic event “Military-patriotic training camp “Polish Gart”” was held at the Academician Stepan Demyanchuk International University of Economics and Humanities and at the “Electronic” sanatorium and health complex with the participation of teachers of the Department of Psychology for the city’s students and ATO participants. The training camp program includes military, sports, tourist and psychological activities. The involvement of combatants and ATO participants in the implementation of the military-patriotic training camp activities contributed to their rehabilitation, restoration of their psycho-emotional state, correction of personal qualities, effective working capacity and harmonization of relations with the social environment.

Every year, teachers of the Department of Psychology and university students take an active part in organizing concerts for military personnel, orphans, and children with special needs. Together with graduates of the Department, volunteer psychologists take an active part in city and regional campaigns and events.

Teachers and students of the Department of Psychology are active participants in All-Ukrainian campaigns, in particular, the charity campaign launched within the framework of the project of the international Charitable Foundation “Strong in Spirit”, when various events were planned and held during the academic year to support children with cancer. The University Volunteer Center held the “Day of Mercy and Kindness” in student and teaching teams throughout the year, which focused on charity and volunteering at the Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities.
