INTERNATIONAL ONLINE COMPETITION
‘ST. VALENTINE’S DAY’ (03-28.02.2025)
As part of the activities of the student intercultural club ‘Opening the Borders’, with the assistance of the International Project Department of the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities (IUEH), the International Online Contest ‘St. Valentine’s Day’ was organised for the first time, which started in February 2025.
The contest was joined by 11 Ukrainian participants (students of the Faculty of History and Philology of the IUEH and pupils of secondary schools of Ukraine), 6 participants from Turkish educational institutions (Cukurova University and Ankara University), 2 participants from Japan (Hyogo High School), 9 students from Poland (Silesian University of Technology), 24 participants from Columbia (Cauca University) and 1 participant from the USA (Stone Bridge School).
The contestants realised their cultural and artistic potential, conveyed their feelings and emotions in posters, postcards and handmade products. All 53 creative works of the contestants can be viewed below in a virtual art gallery that will touch your heart and promote peace in your soul.

STAGES OF THE COMPETITION:
Stage 1: development and approval of the contest regulations; preparation of an advertisement, creation of Google forms for anonymous general/viewer voting; development of a layout for certificates of participants and winners; selection of members of a specialised jury.
Stage 2: distribution of the announcement of the competition among domestic and foreign educational institutions; establishing contacts with teacher-coordinators of potential participants.
Stage 3: collecting and analysing the contestants‘ creative works in the following categories: posters (Category 1), valentines/cards (Category 2), themed crafts (Category 3); creating a Virtual Art Gallery of the contestants’ creative works; evaluating the works and holding anonymous voting.
Stage 4: determining the winners of the competition in three categories in an anonymous online audience vote, which was joined by pupils, students and teachers from educational institutions in 6 countries, and a specialised jury consisting of Alina Kruglyak (Ukraine), Natalia Nisanoglu (Turkey), Hania Brdyz (Poland), Diana Carolina Ortiz Bravo (Colombia), Kiminori Hirai (Japan), Heidi Rizley (USA). To ensure the transparency and objectivity of the voting, the members of the specialised jury documented their choices in a video report.
Stage 5: publication of the voting results and lists of winners on the university’s official website (https://www.megu.edu.ua/uk/vsi-novini/rezultaty-mizhnarodnoho-onlayn-konkursu-st-valentines-day) and social media (https://www.facebook.com/groups/187867656393660).
Stage 6: the competition coordinators at each educational institution in each country awarded the winners and participants and presented certificates.

Results of the International Online Contest “St. Valentine’s Day”
The winners were selected in three categories over 3 days in an anonymous audience vote, which was attended by students and teachers from educational institutions in 6 countries, and a specialized jury consisting of Alina Kruhliak (Ukraine), Natalia Nisanoglu (Turkey), Hanna Brdyś (Poland), Diana Carolina Ortiz Bravo (Colombia), Kiminori Hirai (Japan), and Heidi Risley (USA).
